Absolutely stunning door. The craftsmanship is incredible — you can feel the weight and quality the moment it arrives. Installed it in our master bedroom and it completely transformed the space.

Worth every penny. We were nervous ordering a custom door online but the team walked us through measuring and the door fit perfectly. Hardware included was a huge bonus.

Beautiful door, great quality wood. Delivery took about 3 weeks which was within the estimate. Only wish they had more stain color samples available to ship.

Wood in a Steel Frame

The Modern Industrial wraps a stained wood door in a metal perimeter frame with plated corner brackets, then cuts a six pane lite into the upper third. It is the language of a factory service door, and every element on it was originally there for a reason: the frame to protect the edges, the brackets to resist racking, the lite to let a foreman see through.

Keeping those elements honest is what makes the door work. The brackets are real, the frame wraps the actual edge of the slab, and the muntins in the lite are structural bars rather than applied trim.

Below the glass the door is solid wood in a warm stain, and the contrast between the raw metal and the timber is the entire reason to hang it.

Design Details

Metal Perimeter Frame

The frame wraps the edge of the slab. It is protection first and ornament second, which is why it sits proud of the face rather than flush with it.

Plated Corner Brackets

Bolted at each corner where a door racks first. Functional hardware, sized and placed as it would have been on a working door.

Six Pane Upper Lite

The glazing sits high, in the third of the door where a person actually looks through, with the rest of the slab left solid.

Warm Wood Under Cold Metal

Stained timber against raw steel tone. The contrast is the door, and it is why this one belongs in a loft rather than a farmhouse.

Choosing Your Glass

This door is glazed in its upper lite. Rain is the most faithful to the industrial reference, running vertical ripples through each of the six panes the way old factory glazing did. Acid etched frosts the lite into a bright white block and gives full privacy. Reamy waves like early plate glass and warms the door considerably. Aquatex pebbles the panes and is the most contemporary of the four. Choose yours in the configurator above.

Metal and Wood Move at Different Rates

Wood expands across the grain with the seasons. Steel does not. A metal framed wood door only survives if the frame is detailed to let the panel move inside it, and if the panel is solid rather than a hollow blank that will crush at the fasteners. We build these in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and warranty them for life.

Ranges above are the limits for this specific door and match the configurator on this page. Every door is built to the opening you measure. If your size falls outside these ranges, get in touch and we will tell you what is possible.

How to Measure Your Opening

A few quick measurements and we build your door to fit perfectly.

Header / ceilingDoor opening6″ minclearanceHEIGHTWIDTH
1

Measure the Width

Measure across the opening with the trim included. If there is no trim, measure just the width of the opening itself.

2

Measure the Height

Measure the total height of the opening including the trim. If there is no trim, measure just the height of the opening.

3

Leave Room for Hardware

Allow at least 6″ of clearance above the opening (or above the trim) for the track hardware. Bypass doors need a minimum of 9″.

4

We Handle the Coverage

No trim? We add 4″ to the width (2″ each side) and 1″ to the height for proper coverage. With trim, we build the door to extend slightly past it.
