Painted Finishes

If you are looking for a painted finish, we professionally spray all of your doors to any desired paint code for a flawless finish. We only use top-shelf Sherwin Williams Emerald acrylic latex, which is durable and easy to clean. Just let us know what color you’re interested in!

Stained Finishes

Below we offer the chance to choose your preferred stain. We primarily use Varathane, renowned for its durability and rich color, and accommodate Minwax on request. For lasting protection we apply three coats of satin-finish polyurethane that enhances the natural beauty of the wood.

Absolutely stunning door. The craftsmanship is incredible — you can feel the weight and quality the moment it arrives. Installed it in our master bedroom and it completely transformed the space.

Worth every penny. We were nervous ordering a custom door online but the team walked us through measuring and the door fit perfectly. Hardware included was a huge bonus.

Beautiful door, great quality wood. Delivery took about 3 weeks which was within the estimate. Only wish they had more stain color samples available to ship.

One X, Across the Whole Door

This is the archetype. A planked field, a square frame, and a single X spanning the full height and width of the slab. No half measures, no stacking, no ornament. The X Brace is the door most people picture when someone says barn door, and it is the hardest one to get proportionally right.

The angle of the brace is set by the shape of your opening, not by a template. On a narrow door a shallow X looks lazy and on a wide one a steep X looks pinched. We cut the braces to the door we are building, which is a luxury of building to order.

In the weathered driftwood gray shown, the plank seams and the brace edges stay legible while the color keeps the whole thing from feeling heavy. It is a rustic door that does not darken a room.

Design Details

Full Span X

One brace assembly across the entire face. The most direct expression of the form, with nothing added to it.

Angle Cut to Your Opening

Brace angles are set by the proportions of the door we are building for you rather than pulled from a fixed pattern.

Planked Field

Visible vertical board seams behind the bracing give the door a real surface and a real shadow, which is what separates it from a printed slab.

Weathered Gray Reads Light

A driftwood finish keeps the rustic language while letting the door sit in a bright room without weighing it down.

The Test of a Barn Door

You can spot a badly built X brace door within a year. The brace lifts at the ends, the planks open at the seams, and the slab starts to twist on the track. All three come from building over a hollow core. Ours are solid wood, joined in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and warrantied for life.

How to Measure Your Opening

A few quick measurements and we build your door to fit perfectly.

Header / ceilingDoor opening6″ minclearanceHEIGHTWIDTH
1

Measure the Width

Measure across the opening with the trim included. If there is no trim, measure just the width of the opening itself.

2

Measure the Height

Measure the total height of the opening including the trim. If there is no trim, measure just the height of the opening.

3

Leave Room for Hardware

Allow at least 6″ of clearance above the opening (or above the trim) for the track hardware. Bypass doors need a minimum of 9″.

4

We Handle the Coverage

No trim? We add 4″ to the width (2″ each side) and 1″ to the height for proper coverage. With trim, we build the door to extend slightly past it.
